GNC Hair Skin and Nail Supplements...

Know its been a while for a post but the weekend is over and we are getting right back into it!

The thing people ask me most for is a miracle growth remedy for their hair. The answer isssssss…. *drum roll please*

There is none…

You should have expected that or people (men and women alike) would have been swarming stores carrying it quicker than they did KFC when Oprah gave out those free chicken coupons (I liked to call them the Willy Wonka golden tickets). However… I found something that almost everyone who has used has seen results within one bottle. GNC Brand Hair, Skin, and Nails Formula.

I recommend it to everyone trying to get the health of their hair back in order. Take the recommended dosage (two pills… and they are not big horse pills either!) once a day with an 8 ounce glass of water. I usually take it with breakfast to avoid any stomach issue, which I’ve heard some people complain about. Not many though.

I first discovered this pill back in 2009. I was slowly but surely transitioning and had tried many a hair, skin, and nail vitamin with no visible results. In May of 2009, I did a mini chop to my ear and it was summer. I hated it. I needed something quick. As per usual, I was balling on a budget, so I strolled into GNC and saw these $9.99 pills for a month and a half supply. I said what do I have to lose (I guess other than $9.99)…

I have been taking these pills since then.  My hair grew 3 inches in 3 months.  Pics below…

August 2009 again
Note- I did a post on my other (personal non- beauty blog) when i first decided to go natural and started helping others with their hair. To read how I came to creating this blog just so y'all know who your working with… click here!

CAUTION- this product does contain Fish and Soy, so if you are allergic… stay away. No point of having beautiful hair and you looking like Will Smith in Hitch when he ate the seafood. The point of this blog is to stay beautiful…

Ok, hit me via email, twitter, or below with any questions comments or concerns…

Ms Jessies Creme de la Curl & Creme de la Creme Review

WELCOME BEAUTIES!

Now that summer is coming, and a lot of people have been asking me about products for their curls. A lot. And I know that with this day an age, everyone is trying to get the most for the money. So let me tell you my staple for my curly hair, my straight hair, and I recommend it for relaxed or natural.  Its is Miss Jessie’s Crème de La Curl shampoo and Miss Jessie’s Crème De La Crème Conditioner.

Let me start by saying Miss Jessie’s did NOT pay me to endorse this.

At $16 a pop, I wish they did though. However, I completely and truly am in love with these two products. Let me also say I was skeptical as all hell about them. I am not a fan of Miss Jessie’s other products. Something about them does not agree with my 3 b/c fine hair. I have used the curly pudding, curly meringue, and baby butter crème, and ugh! They leave my twist outs lack luster, and other than the amazing smell of the baby buttercreme, nothing has impressed me. I have used the curly pudding, curly meringue, and baby butter crème, and ugh! I haven’t part with them cause I’m still perfecting my curly routine and I paid so much money I refuse to give up without a fight. So when this little duo was brought to my attention, I gave them both the side eye of death. However, It was December and that’s Miss Jessie’s highly anticipated buy 1 get 1 free sale month, so I indulged.

Thank the hair gods I did.

This is a STAPLE and I do not have many, but unless they change the formula, these will never be missing from my beauty regimen. The shampoo does not sud, but it does clean. Trust me. And it leaves your hair so soft, you can comb though it while the “shampoo” (really a cleanser) is in it. I repeat and then move to the conditioner. It says to leave it on for 5 minutes, but my hair is so fine I usually do it for 2. My hair didn’t have that light feeling I usually like when I wash, especially when I am planning on straightening my hair… but I proceeded. Immediately I noticed the amazing difference in my curls. Each was springy-er (I know that’s not a word, but lets pretend). They were defined like I had never seen before. I said to myself that even if it doesn’t work for the straightening, I was definitely keeping this around for the summer time twist outs and wash and goes.

My hair was moisturized. A lot… but it made me nervous because during the blow drying, I had that heavy feeling like when you put too much product in (but now I am an expert on the right amount of product I use with my staple items so I know it wasn’t that). I almost went to wash it out… yet I proceeded. With amazing results…

So now to the points. My fine haired homies who cant hold a curl in their hair even if there was curling iron permanently affixed to it, this product is for you. Because it’s a curling shampoo, my curls last all week. No issues. Even WITHOUT pin curling. Yes. Miracles happen when you believe. It leaves your hair shiny, soft, and it really does clean. I really don’t think that anything will be able to replace this product in my life. Ever.

So… Pros:
·       Leaves hair soft
·       Gently cleanses hair
·       Leaves hair moisturized
·       Defines the hell out a curl
·       Helps maintains in straightened hair

Cons
·       Price for the amount. Especially if you have a lot of hair like I do. You can get 6-9 shampoos max out of it. I recommend you stock up during the BOGO sale in December. Hope that helped!

If you have any questions please feel free to do so in the comments section. Have a great day guys.

Karen's Body Beautiful

Good Night! I am doing this late night post that I am very excited about… first off let me hit you with the disclaimer

*I was not paid by Karen's Body Beautiful to review and or endorse this product*

Ok.. to the important stuff. I went to this great event called "She Got Here Own" here in NY (put on by a fellow Temple alum). They had some local upcoming vendors (their info will be shared in upcoming post) and amazing speakers. A Belle In Brooklyn author Demetria was there (I love her)… but more importantly (for the sake of this post anyway) so was Karen, creator of Karen's Body Beautiful. She has a business based in Brooklyn who creates all natural hair products for women of color. She gave out goodie bags with a pamphlet of her products and a jar of her most popular selling item, the Luscious Locks Hair Mask.

Deep Conditioner
So, i have a confession. I have been falling off the deep conditioner wagon. I used to keep DC (abbreviation I will for deep condition for future reference) in my hair for hours, sometimes DAYS at a time. Recently… I haven't DC in month *gasp* I know. What about split ends? What about healthy regimen? I am ashamed. But my usual Dominican DC Emergencia was not wowing me like it used too.

*side note- our hair changes as our body does, so sometimes products stop working and its necessary to change our routine and what we use in out hair*

So when I got this little jar, I said I might as well try it. I needed a good DC anyway even though since its summer time my hair has been in its staple style. The bun.

So I go ahead and wash my hair with Organix Coconut Shampoo, and do not use regular conditioner as per the instructions. I just apply this straight to my hair…

It was love at first touch. The conditioner isn't watery but it isn't heavy and sticky feeling. I applied it to my hair and it literally melted into my strands. It smells AMAZING and I was just befuddled at how good my hair felt immediately.

Lets go to the ingredients for those who love to read labels

It says let sit in your hair for no less than 20 minutes. Because I hate the dryer I kept it in a few hours. In the midst of that I told my friend who had went to the event and also gotten a sample about how soft my hair felt and she decided to try hers out.

Curls while conditioner was in
Curls after and air dried
Direct quotes of results:

"My hair feels like a cloud"
"If Jesus used toilet paper, it would feel like me hair"
"My hair feels like sex between kittens. Its just that soft"

I think you get the drift. I will say this, both out hair types are fine 3B/3C mixes. (if you are not familiar with hair typing, please refer to the chart here). Ill be doing reviews with other hair type shortly.

So I fully support this product and advise you to pick up at bottle. Now its not the cheapest… the little jar is $25 a pop, but the way I feel, its definitely worth it because you don't need a lot for it to work. Even the gel I use for my buns responds better after this DC. So Please Check out their store in Brooklyn at 436 Myrtle St or buy directly from their site at karensbodybeautiful.com

Please feel free to ask any questions in comments or directly on twitter @MsCurlyShe

Have a great night!

Back With the jump off!

Ok ok ok! Yes… i am doing this over. Its a relaunch to the pre- mini launch that I did back in the day. I had to get my mind right… and I almost let this little blog die… the summer came. And so did the hot weather hair tragedies… and the makeup meltdowns… and the DIY disaster.

Father forgive them, for they know no better.

As I speak with all my friends who, though styles vary extremely, all look amazing… they all say they wish they could just help black women and how they look. So now, this blog has changed for me. Its no longer a dream for me, its a movement for black woman. It is all encompassing, though, there will be a main focus on hair.

Women of color are beautiful. However, our hair varies so much, pin pointing what works wasn't always the easiest. Still isn't. Especially with limited resources (aka huap aka fetti aka cheddar aka chicken aka MONEY)… so women destry their hair trying to look the best with the least…

So this blog is for the college student working 3 jobs and on a scholarship who wants to see her natural hair but doesn't have the money nor the time to even experiment.

This blog is for the girl with the relaxer who wants her hair to look like the women in the commercial instead of the women on hot ghetto mess website…

This is for the women who wants to try something new… and doesn't know where to start...

This blog is to let you know beauty is attainable… in all shapes and forms…
REAL LIFE BEAUTY!

This blog is for you. Enjoy...
